By now, nearly everyone who works in web development has heard of the term Ajax, which is simply a term to describe client-server communication achieved without reloading the current page. I have been using since Netscape 4.0 days a different technique involving the use of a hidden / which retrieved data from the server even from FORM elements and returning the data as javascript variables and a callback to let the main program know data was ready. I could even load a full page in the layer, but I preferred the hidden layer approach because then I could choose how to render the data in the main page.

Here described methods have no any two directional communication with server.
First approach is dynamic generation of document. Second one is one direction request, without getting response from server to the SAME window/document.
Only AJAX allow to know moment, when sending of some info ready, and get completed response from server. So in this case exist feedback, also with possible validation and errors processing, retry query or request more data...
